In the second instalment of Dekmantel’s new series Sole Selector, they cast light on a true innovator of sound sculpture, Joy Orbison.
In his first ever video profile, he expands on his early musical influences, the journey he took to where his is now, and his opinions in music. In this gritty seven minute video, we see an interview with uncle DJ Ray Keith, and his loyal girlfriend.
In the run up to the Selectors stage at Dekmantel 2015, this new video series delves into the lives of real DJs exploring the inner mechanisms of their minds, and if you haven’t seen the first video yet, check out their profile on legendary Dutch techno DJ Steve Rachmad.
After the release of his eminent Hyph Mango record, the contemporary tastemaker continued to rise, whilst never compromising on his integrity. The Dekmantel regular remarks: “I met the Dekmantel guys in 2010 when I played a very small show with them, and I just instantly got on with them. They understood what I wanted to do, and be, and I think at that time there was a lot of people who didn’t.”
Joy Orbison will continue the story at the Selectors stage where he will play a two-hour closing set on Friday the 31st.
