The debut electronic release by Wy Wy Brix has just landed at Cone HQ and has us feeling a bit spaced out!

The producer from Wellington, New Zealand, got a taste for techno after a long and classically DIY stint under his experimental percussion moniker, Cartoon, and went on to drop this 10 composition ‘existential techno experiment’ on the ever unique label, 1080p.

Clear Licorise is rumoured to be named after the wildly popular video game, Candy Crush, but unlike the Facebook app, we won’t be rejecting requests to play…
1080p explains the album ‘uses melodies and repetition to sit on feelings and move the body for a wonky, acid-y take on spirituality stoked on swinging rhythms, romantic vibes and jazz chords’. After the first track, Bush Walk, an emotional, experimental opener we are taken to a strange, synth filled, cosmic club land. Highlights include Jerk That, with its old school electro funk vibe that nods to Wy Wy Brixs past and Freak Me, minimal house with a twist, featuring Xiao Feng and some deep reaching ghostly vocals.

Clear Licorise is now up for pre-order and out May 19.
